How To Make Pan-Fried Venison with Sloe Gin & Plum Sauce
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 venison steaks (about 6 ounces each)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 shallot, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup sloe gin
- 1 cup plum sauce
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
-
Season the venison steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the venison steaks and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
-
In the same skillet, add minced shallot and garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
-
Stir in the sloe gin, plum sauce, and red wine vinegar. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
-
Return the venison steaks to the skillet with the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the steaks are heated through and coated in the sauce.
-
Serve the pan-fried venison steaks with the sloe gin and plum sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley.
