Ingredients
- 8-10 fresh tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (optional)
Instructions

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion, and sauté until softened.

Add the diced tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in the tomato paste and water. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Optional: If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, add the sugar during the last 15 minutes of cooking.

Once the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together, remove from heat. Serve over cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta.
