Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
-
Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Add enough water to the saucepan to cover the eggs by about an inch.
-
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the water to a boil.
-
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and cover it with a lid. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 9-12 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness:
-
– Soft boiled eggs: 9 minutes
-
– Medium boiled eggs: 10 minutes
-
– Hard boiled eggs: 12 minutes
-
While the eggs are boiling, prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
-
Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the boiled eggs into the ice bath. Let them sit for at least 5 minutes to cool and stop the cooking process.
-
Once the eggs have cooled, gently tap them on a hard surface to crack the shell. Peel off the shell, starting at the wider end of the egg, and discard.
-
Rinse the peeled boiled eggs under cold water to remove any residual shell pieces.
-
Pat the boiled eggs dry with paper towels before serving. Enjoy!
