How To Make Thanksgiving Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

A classic Thanksgiving side dish with a sweet and decadent pecan topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a large saucepan, boil sweet potatoes until tender. Drain and mash in a mixing bowl.

  3. Add melted butter, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the mixing bowl. Mix well.

  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.

  5. Mix together pecans, flour, melted butter, and brown sugar in a separate bowl. Sprinkle over the sweet potato mixture.

  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and sweet potatoes are heated through.

  7. Serve hot.
