How To Make Falafel Recipe
A crispy and flavorful Middle Eastern staple made of ground chickpeas, herbs, and spices.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups of dried chickpeas, soaked overnight and drained
- 1 small onion, roughly chopped
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 cup of fresh parsley leaves, stems removed
- 1 cup of fresh cilantro leaves, stems removed
- 1 tsp of ground cumin
- 1 tsp of ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 5 tbsp of all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions

In a food processor, blend soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, and salt until coarsely pureed.

Add baking powder and flour and pulse until well combined.

Form 2-inch balls with your hands and flatten them slightly to form patties.

In a deep pot, heat 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F.

Fry the falafel patties in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden and crispy.

Drain on paper towel-lined plates and serve hot with tahini sauce or pita bread.
