How To Make Chicken Shawarma Recipe
Middle Eastern spiced chicken wrapped with veggies and sauce.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 pita breads
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup chopped lettuce
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together the chicken strips, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.

While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing together the Greek yogurt and lemon juice in a bowl.

Heat the pita breads according to package instructions.

Once heated, spread a generous amount of the yogurt sauce on each pita bread.

Divide the cooked chicken, sliced onions, chopped lettuce, and chopped tomatoes evenly between the 4 pita breads.

Roll the pita breads up tightly, securing with toothpicks if needed.
