A decadent chocolate cake layered with whipped cream and cherries, garnished with chocolate shavings.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped cream cheese
- 1 cup pitted cherries, chopped
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat eggs and vanilla into the butter mixture until well combined.

Gradually add in the dry ingredients and milk to the batter, alternating between the two and mixing well after each addition.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before transferring it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

In a mixing bowl, beat heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

Add whipped cream cheese and beat until well combined.

Cut the cake horizontally into two equal layers.

Spread whipped cream cheese mixture and cherries on top of one layer, then place the other layer on top.

Spread the remaining whipped cream cheese mixture on the top and sides of the cake.

Garnish with chocolate shavings and additional cherries.

Chill the cake for at least 1-2 hours before serving.
