Pork is one of the most commonly cooked meats in the world and we’ve decided to put our spin into these minimal yet tasty pork recipes that will have you looking forward to every bite.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg belly of pork, skin on
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 red chili, sliced (optional)
- 2 spring onions, chopped
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
-
Score the skin of the pork belly diagonally, being careful not to cut into the meat. Rub the vegetable oil all over the skin, then sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
-
Place the pork belly in a roasting tray and roast in the preheated oven for 3 hours.
-
In a small bowl, mix together the garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and sliced chili (if using).
-
After 3 hours, remove the pork belly from the oven and brush the glaze mixture all over the skin. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and return the pork belly to the oven for another 45 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the glaze is sticky.
-
Once cooked, remove the pork belly from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
-
Serve the sticky slow-roast belly of pork with spring onions sprinkled on top.
