How To Make Bangers and Mash with Onion Gravy
Pork is one of the most commonly cooked meats in the world and we’ve decided to put our spin into these minimal yet tasty pork recipes that will have you looking forward to every bite.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 pork sausages
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the sausages on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
-
While the sausages are cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
-
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
-
Push the onions and garlic to one side of the skillet and melt the butter on the other side. Sprinkle the flour over the butter and whisk to combine, creating a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
-
Slowly pour in the beef broth, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the gravy has thickened.
-
Mash the cooked potatoes with a potato masher or fork. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Serve the sausages on top of the mashed potatoes and pour the onion gravy over the top. Enjoy!
