Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized potatoes
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
-
Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.
-
In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the potatoes evenly.
-
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Take about 1/4 cup of the potato mixture and shape it into a round patty. Flatten it slightly and place it in the hot skillet. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture, leaving some space between each hashbrown.
-
Cook the hashbrowns for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
-
Remove the cooked hashbrowns from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
-
Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the skillet and cook the remaining hashbrowns.
-
Serve the homemade hashbrowns hot and enjoy!
