How To Make Beef & ale stew

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef stew meat, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup ale
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the pot and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, add the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.

  4. Add the beef broth, ale, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

  5. Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

  6. Serve hot with crusty bread or mashed potatoes.
