Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 steak cuts (such as ribeye or sirloin)
- 4 large shallots, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the steaks. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time according to desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
-
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced shallots and cook until softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
-
Increase the heat to medium-high and pour in the red wine. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and reduced by half.
-
Return the steaks to the skillet and coat them with the sticky red wine shallots. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, turning the steaks to ensure they are thoroughly coated in the sauce.
-
Remove from heat and let the steaks rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve the steaks topped with the sticky red wine shallots.
