How To Make Grandma’s Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage, Slow Cooker Variation

Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions

Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully remove the leaves. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.

In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, diced onion, minced garlic, paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and black pepper.

Take one cabbage leaf and place a scoop of the ground beef mixture in the center. Roll the leaf, tucking in the sides, and place seam-side down in a slow cooker.

Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and ground beef mixture, layering them in the slow cooker.

In a separate bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Pour the mixture over the stuffed cabbage rolls in the slow cooker.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the cabbage leaves are tender and the flavors have melded together.

Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls with the sauce from the slow cooker.
