Serves:
Ingredients
- 250g prawns, peeled and deveined
- 200g smoked salmon, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 200ml milk
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 pack of ready-made puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
-
Add the prawns and cook until pink and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
In the same pan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour to create a roux. Cook for a minute until it starts to turn golden.
-
Slowly whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.
-
Stir in the chopped smoked salmon, lemon zest, dill, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute.
-
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Roll out the puff pastry and using a round cutter, cut out circles that are about 10cm (4 inches) in diameter.
-
Place a spoonful of the prawn and salmon mixture onto one half of each pastry circle.
-
Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and fold the pastry over to form a half-circle shape. Press the edges together to seal.
-
Transfer the pasties onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden and puffed.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
