How To Make Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup your favorite pizza toppings (e.g., pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions)
Instructions

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and cornmeal. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Pour yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the flour mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Grease a deep-dish pizza pan with oil. Press the dough evenly into the pan, covering the bottom and sides. Let it rest for 15 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a small bowl, mix diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes to make the sauce.

Spread the sauce evenly on top of the dough.

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

Add your favorite pizza toppings on top of the cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
