Delicious penne pasta with a creamy tomato basil sauce that’s perfect for a quick dinner.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 16 oz of penne pasta
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup of tomato paste
- 1 tsp of dried basil
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil, chopped (optional)
Instructions

Cook the penne pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is translucent.

Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

Stir in heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Cook for 5 minutes or until sauce thickens.

Add cooked pasta to the sauce. Mix well to coat the pasta with the sauce.

Top with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot.
