How To Make Mac n’ Cheese with Chicken

Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 8 oz sharp cheddar, shredded and divided
- 1 cup chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Prepare pasta according to directions but undercook the pasta by about 3 minutes. Drain and keep warm.

In a large dutch oven, melt the butter and mix in flour until it forms a smooth sauce. Cook for two minutes.

Slowly add in the milk and continue to whisk for about 5 minutes or until it gets thicker.

Turn off the heat and stir in the garlic powder and cayenne pepper, half of the cheese, chicken, and pasta.
- Spoon the mixture into a 2 quart baking dish and top with the other half of the cheese.

Bake for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn the broiler on high and broil the top for 5 to 7 minutes until it becomes golden-brown.

Allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Recipe Notes
- The pasta should be somewhat raw
- While baking, watch closely and be careful not to burn. It will keep cooking once it's outside of the oven so the moment it turns golden brown, remove it.
