How To Make Italian Sausage Stuffed Shells

Ingredients
- 20 jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- Fresh basil, for garnish
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Remove from skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the cooked Italian sausage back to the skillet and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and beaten egg. Mix well.

Stir the sausage mixture into the cheese mixture until fully combined.

Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the filling into each cooked jumbo pasta shell and arrange them in a baking dish.

Pour the marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, covering them completely.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
