How To Make Mom’s Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 8 oz macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the macaroni according to package instructions and drain.

  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, until lightly golden.

  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

  5. In a baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and the cheese sauce. Mix well to coat the macaroni evenly.

  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
