How To Make Mom’s Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
- 8 oz macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the macaroni according to package instructions and drain.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, until lightly golden.

Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

In a baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and the cheese sauce. Mix well to coat the macaroni evenly.

Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
