Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 1 small red cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, and dried thyme on both sides.
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Cook the pork chops for about 4-5 minutes per side or until browned. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and garlic. Sauté until they become translucent.
-
Add the sliced red cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes, or until it starts to soften.
-
Stir in the red wine, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
-
Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the cabbage mixture. Add the sliced pears on top.
-
Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the pork and cabbage simmer for about 1 hour, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.
-
Serve the pork chops with the braised red cabbage and pears, drizzling some of the cooking liquid on top.
