How To Make Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

Serve a classic cheese snack with these mozzarella sticks coated with an Italian-seasoned breading air-fried until golden and crispy.

Preparation: 5 minutes
Cooking: 8 minutes
Freeze Time: 1 hour
Total: 1 hour 13 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1largeegg
  • 1tspItalian seasoning
  • ½tspsalt
  • 1cupPanko breadcrumbs
  • 8mozzarella sticks,whole milk or low-fat

Instructions

  1. Line a rimmed baking sheet with wax paper.

  2. Lightly beat the egg in a wide, shallow bowl. Combine the Italian seasoning, salt, and breadcrumbs in a second wide, shallow bowl.

  3. Dip a mozzarella stick into the beaten egg and coat it completely. Dip the stick into the bowl with the breadcrumbs and coat completely. This will be messy. It’s okay.

  4. Transfer to a wax paper-lined rimmed baking sheet and line them up so they are not touching. Freeze for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  5. Pull the mozzarella sticks out of the freezer, dip them into the egg, and then the breadcrumb mix. Freeze for another 30 minutes to 1 hour

  6. Set the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Spray the air fryer basket and the mozzarella sticks with a nonstick cooking spray.

  7. Air fry the mozzarella sticks (in batches if desired or necessary, as space permits) for 6 to 8 minutes until the exterior is golden and crispy.

  8. Serve! Remove from the fryer, cool slightly, and eat immediately!
