How To Make Saffron and Orange Scones

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, diced
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 tsp saffron threads
- 1 tbsp orange zest
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, mix together orange juice, saffron threads, and orange zest. Let it sit while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add cold diced butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream. Add the saffron-orange mixture to the egg mixture and stir to combine.

Pour the egg mixture over the flour mixture and stir until just combined.

Place the dough on a floured surface and knead briefly until it comes together in a ball. Pat the dough into a circle and cut it into 8 wedges.
