How To Make Yvonne’s Biscuits and Gravy Recipe
Fluffy biscuits smothered in savory sausage gravy, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- ⅔ cup whole milk
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 425°F.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Pour in the milk, stirring until the mixture forms a sticky dough.
-
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead briefly. Pat and shape the dough into a circle about ½ inch thick. Using a biscuit cutter, cut out 8 rounds and transfer them to a baking sheet.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
While the biscuits are baking, cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly.
-
Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Cook for another minute.
-
Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
-
Cook over medium heat until the gravy thickens and comes to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Serve the biscuits with a generous ladle of sausage gravy on top.
