How To Make Sticky Spiced Red Cabbage

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 small red cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.

  2. Add the sliced red cabbage to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.

  4. Pour the spice mixture over the cabbage and stir well to coat.

  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded together.

  6. Adjust the seasoning if needed, and serve the sticky spiced red cabbage hot.
