How To Make Dhal with Garam Masala Carrots

Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 carrots, sliced into thin rounds
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions

Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked lentils, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Stir well and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes until the lentils are cooked and tender.

In a separate pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for another minute.

Add the sliced carrots to the pan and cook until they are tender and lightly caramelized.

Season the mixture with salt and stir well.

Once the lentils are cooked, add the cooked carrots to the lentil pot and mix gently.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
