How To Make Cheat’s Beetroot Biriyani

Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 3 cups water
- 1 large beetroot, grated
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions

Rinse the basmati rice in water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add sliced onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.

Add grated beetroot and cook for 5 minutes until it softens.

Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add soaked and drained basmati rice to the pan. Stir gently to mix everything together.

Add water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and all the water is absorbed.

Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and sprinkle garam masala powder on top.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot.
