How To Make Vanilla Bean and Lavender Shortbread Recipe

Delicate shortbread cookies with a touch of vanilla bean and lavender.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

  2. In a medium bowl, beat butter, sugar, lavender, and vanilla bean seeds until creamy.

  3. Gradually mix in flour until just combined.

  4. Form dough into a disk, wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.

  5. Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.

  6. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden.

  7. Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
