How To Make Spicy Indian Rice
A flavorful and spicy rice dish that is packed with Indian spices and aromatic flavors.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 cup peas
- 1/4 cup carrot, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing
Instructions

Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak in water for 30 minutes.

In a pan, heat oil or ghee and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili. Cook for a minute.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

Add all the spices – turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add peas, carrots, and bell pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix well with the spices and vegetables.

Add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil.

Once the water starts boiling, cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat, and let it cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

Fluff the rice gently with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
