How To Make Snow Globe Cookies
These festive cookies are shaped like snow globes, filled with colorful decorations.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Assorted colored sprinkles
- Royal icing (for decorating)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
-
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
-
Use a round cookie cutter to cut out cookies and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Use a smaller round cookie cutter to cut out the center of each cookie, creating a “window” for the snow globe.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
-
Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
-
Once cooled, decorate the center of each cookie with colored sprinkles to resemble snow globes.
-
Use royal icing to pipe decorative designs around the edges of the cookies, creating the look of snow globes.
-
Allow the icing to dry completely before serving.
