- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pink food coloring
- cream filling:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Fresh berries, for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
-
Add the butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on low speed until the ingredients are just combined.
-
Divide the batter in half into two separate bowls. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one bowl and stir until well combined.
-
Drop spoonfuls of the pink batter into one of the prepared pans. Add the white batter in between the pink batter. Continue layering until both pans are filled.
-
Use a knife or toothpick to gently swirl the batter to create a marble effect.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
-
Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of cream filling on top of one cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining cream filling.
-
Garnish with fresh berries and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
-
Slice and enjoy!
