- 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
-
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the bowl and use your fingers to rub it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.
-
Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round and cut out scones using a round biscuit cutter.
-
Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
-
While the scones are cooling, prepare the lemon drizzle by whisking together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice until smooth.

Drizzle the lemon glaze over the cooled scones.
