Ingredients
- 2 cups of cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 9-inch pie crust, homemade or store-bought
- 1 tablespoon of butter, diced
- 1 tablespoon of milk
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a bowl, combine the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, almond extract, and lemon juice. Mix well.
-
Roll out one of the pie crusts and line a 9-inch pie dish with it. Trim any excess dough.
-
Pour the cherry mixture into the pie crust, and dot with diced butter.
-
Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips. Create a lattice pattern on top of the cherry filling.
-
Brush the lattice crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
-
Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
-
Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
