- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix just until combined.
-
Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts, if using.
-
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter. Add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the caramel sauce.
-
Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Slice and serve the caramel apple loaf cake.
