How To Make Poached fish with ginger & sesame broth
Cooking fish can be very tricky, especially if some are too delicate to be cooked. Well, with our fish recipes, it’ll be easy as 1-2-3. We’ve got the details on different cooking methods for the perfect fish dish.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 fillets of white fish (such as halibut or cod)
- 2 cups of vegetable broth
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: sliced green onions, sesame seeds
Instructions
-
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable broth, ginger, and garlic over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
-
Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper, then carefully place them into the simmering broth. Poach for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
-
While the fish is poaching, make the sesame broth by whisking together soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar in a small bowl.
-
Once the fish is cooked, remove it from the broth and set aside. Strain the broth to remove the ginger and garlic. Return the strained broth to the skillet and stir in the sesame broth mixture.
-
Heat the broth over low heat for 2-3 minutes, just until heated through.
-
To serve, ladle the ginger and sesame broth into bowls and top with a poached fish fillet. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
