How To Make Catfish and Okra Gumbo Recipe
A hearty and flavorful gumbo made with catfish and okra, perfect for a comforting meal!

Ingredients
- 1 lb. catfish fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup sliced okra
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green pepper
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 tbsp. chopped garlic
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.)
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 tsp. paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked white rice for serving
Instructions

In a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the flour and whisk together until it turns into a roux.

Add the onion, green pepper, celery, and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Gradually add the chicken broth, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.

Add the tomatoes, thyme, paprika, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the catfish and okra to the pot and continue to simmer for 25-30 minutes until the catfish is fully cooked and the okra is tender.

Serve hot over cooked white rice.
