Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Sprinkle the brown sugar over the batter.

In a small saucepan, heat the lemon juice and boiling water until hot but not boiling.

Slowly pour the hot liquid over the batter.
