Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
-
In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the butterscotch chips until melted.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the eggs, stirring constantly.
-
Place the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish and pour the butterscotch custard mixture over the top. Gently press down the bread cubes to ensure they are soaked in the liquid.
-
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
-
Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
