How To Make Diabetic-Friendly Perfectly Poached Pears
Ingredients
- 1 cup orange juice
- ¼ cup apple juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 green pears, of your choice, whole, preferably anjou, bosc, or bartlett
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 2 pods star anise
Instructions

Peel pears, leaving the stems, then remove the core from the bottom of each pear.

Place pears in a saucepan then set over medium heat.

Add orange juice, apple juice, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.

Simmer pears for 30 minutes, turning frequently. Do not bring the liquid to a boil.

Once poached, drain the pears and set them aside.

Bring remaining poaching liquid to a boil and reduce for roughly 10 minutes until syrupy.

Set aside the syrup and allow to cool down completely, including the poached pears.

To serve, place poached pears onto a serving plate, then drizzle roughly ¼ cup of the poaching liquid. Serve immediately.
