- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red and green food coloring
- Mini chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add red food coloring to one portion and green food coloring to the other, mixing until the colors are evenly distributed.

Take a small amount of red dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten it slightly and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Repeat the process with the green dough, placing it next to the red dough and slightly overlapping.

Use a butter knife or the back of a spoon to create watermelon rind patterns on the green dough.

Gently press mini chocolate chips onto the red dough to mimic watermelon seeds.
