Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the molasses and egg, and mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar to coat.

Place the coated dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10 minutes, or until cookies are set and slightly cracked.
