Always make sure to leave room for dessert. Whether you’re looking for some gooey chocolate goodness or some velvety cakes, our delightful dessert recipes will make you wish you spared some room for dessert right at the beginning.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 chocolate sponge cakes
- 4 scoops of orange ice cream
- 4 egg whites
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 100g dark chocolate, melted
- 200ml double cream
- 50g chocolate flakes
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C for fan ovens).
-
Place the chocolate sponge cakes on a baking tray and top each with a scoop of orange ice cream.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the caster sugar and orange zest while continuing to whisk until glossy meringue forms.
-
Spread the meringue over the ice cream and sponge cakes, making sure to completely cover them.
-
Place the bombe alaskas in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the meringue is golden brown.
-
While the bombe alaskas are baking, make the hot chocolate sauce by melting the dark chocolate in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the double cream until well combined.
-
Remove the bombe alaskas from the oven and leave them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
-
To serve, drizzle the hot chocolate sauce over the bombe alaskas and sprinkle with chocolate flakes and cocoa powder. Enjoy!
