Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp of sea salt
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. Mix the flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 tsp of sea salt in a bowl.

  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the bowl.

  4. Mix until the dough comes together and press it into the bottom of a greased 9-inch tart pan.

  5. Bake the crust for 15 minutes, then remove it from the oven and let it cool.

  6. In a saucepan, combine the remaining sugar, corn syrup, and heavy cream.

  7. Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves, then increase the heat to medium-high.

  8. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes, until the mixture turns amber-colored and thickens.

  9. Remove the caramel from the heat and stir in the sea salt and vanilla extract.

  10. Pour the caramel over the cooled crust and smooth it out.

  11. Bake the tart for 20-25 minutes, until the caramel is set.

  12. Let the tart cool completely before serving.
