Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup boiling water
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Gradually pour in the boiling water while stirring the batter. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
