  • 125g self-raising flour
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 100g golden syrup
  • 50g black treacle
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 eggs
  • 50ml milk
  • Whipped cream, to serve

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, golden syrup, and black treacle until smooth.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  4. Gradually mix in the flour and ground ginger.

  5. Stir in the milk to form a smooth batter.

  6. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.

  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream.
