Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks and granulated sugar until thick and pale.
-
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg yolk mixture, mixing until well combined.
-
In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until no streaks remain.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
-
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan.
-
Once cooled, carefully transfer the cake to a serving plate. Top with fresh mixed berries and dust with powdered sugar.
-
Serve immediately and enjoy!
