How To Make My Own Famous Stuffed Grape Leaves Recipe
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- 1/2 pound of ground beef
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh dill
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh mint
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh onions
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
- 30-40 grape leaves, packed in brine and rinsed
Instructions
-
Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
-
In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, ground beef, parsley, dill, mint, onions, olive oil, lemon juice, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, cinnamon, and allspice. Mix well.
-
Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a spoonful of the rice and beef mixture near the stem end of the leaf.
-
Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling and roll tightly, like a burrito.
-
Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
-
Place the stuffed grape leaves, seam side down, in a pot. Add enough water to cover the grape leaves.
-
Place a plate or heatproof lid on top of the grape leaves to keep them in place.
-
Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour.
-
Remove the stuffed grape leaves from the pot and let them cool slightly before serving.
-
Serve warm or at room temperature.
