How To Make Melon Pan Recipe
A sweet Japanese bread with a crispy cookie crust resembling a melon.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp water
- Granulated sugar for sprinkling
Instructions

In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well.

In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.

Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture, alternating with milk.

Divide into 8 portions, shape into balls and chill for 15 minutes.

Mix egg yolk and water to make an egg wash.

Score cookie crust into a diamond pattern.

Brush with egg wash and add sugar on top.

Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
