How To Make Japanese Beef Bowl (Gyudon) Recipe
A savory and comforting dish with tender beef slices simmered in a slightly sweet and savory sauce, served over steamed rice.

Ingredients
- 1 lb thinly sliced beef (sirloin or rib-eye)
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sake (or dry white wine)
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cups cooked rice
- 4 green onions, chopped (optional)
- Furikake (Japanese rice seasoning) (optional)
Instructions

Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent.

Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for another minute.

Add the beef and stir-fry until browned.

Add the soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar. Stir well to combine.

Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Serve the beef and sauce over a bowl of hot steamed rice. Top with chopped green onions and furikake, if desired.
