Classic pub-style fish and chips with crispy battered fish and golden fries.

Ingredients
- 1 lb cod fillets, cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 cup of beer
- 4 potatoes, cut into fries
- vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.

Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth.

Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat until it reaches 375°F.

Add the potatoes to the oil and fry for 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and sprinkle with salt.

Dip the fish into the batter and allow any excess to drip off.

Fry the fish for 4-5 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.

Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve the fish and chips hot with tartar sauce.
