Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup lager beer
- 1 lb Wisconsin cheese curds
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Preheat oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 375°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, kosher salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Add milk and beer to dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
- Dip cheese curds in batter, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place in hot oil.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
